Art in Tirana

Dear AAA members/friends,

The Anglo-Albanian Association is pleased to offer an ambitious new style of event, - a virtual tour of art galleries in Tirana and discussion with Ambassador Alastair King-Smith, Ermir Hoxha Professor of Albanian Art History at the University of Arts, Tirana, AAA Board Member Carolyn Perry, and others.

The event, on 7 December 2022 18.30 (19.30 CET) will be hosted in GaleriaKalo, Tirana, by Ardjana and Përparim Kalo, and broadcast via Zoom.

With thanks to Ambassador Qirjaku Qirko, AAA members will be able to enjoy the broadcast in the Albanian Embassy, 33 St George's Drive, Pimlico, London SW1V 4DG. The Embassy event will be followed by a reception. If you would like to attend in person, please email angloalbanian@gmail.com as spaces are limited. If you cannot attend in person you can join via Zoom, using the link which will be e-mailed to you beforehand.

For any members in Albania on 7 December, it is possible to attend the event in GaleriaKalo, Tirana, “Frederic Chopin” Square at 19.30 CET.  Please email galeriakalo@gmail.com to reserve a place.  Following the AAA event, there will be an auction of donated artworks (which will be exhibited in the gallery) to raise funds for the medical treatment of Genc Mulliqi, artist and former Director of the National Gallery of Art in Tirana. 

Here in London we are very glad to be involved in this exciting event which is showcasing the lively contemporary art scene in Tirana. We hope that this will eventually lead to a live exhibition of Albanian art here in London.
